Fundamentals of Contact Improvisation

Sundays, 8:45-9:45am
Boulder Circus Center, 4747 N. 26th St, Boulder CO
Pearl Street Studio, 2126 Pearl Street, Boulder CO

This is an ongoing weekly "Fundamentals of Contact Improvisation" class on Sundays at 8:45-9:45am. This class takes place right before the Sunday lab and focuses on exploring the fundamental techniques and principles of CI. The material covered is suitable for both those new to CI and for experienced dancers.

The cost of this class is $10/class if you purchase a $40 four-class punch-card (expires after two months) or $12 drop-in. (For those in Alicia's classes, you're welcome to come to two of these classes for each class you miss of hers; similarly, for every two classes on your punch card, you're welcome to go to one of hers.)

We will investigate and hone useful CI skills such as: falling with confidence (based on aikido principles); effective weight sharing techniques (making yourself light, supporting weight with ease); maintaining a functional alignment and structure; cultivating an aware and powerful center; harnessing momentum; listening kinesthetically to ourselves and others; and easy and fun ways to enter and exit dances.

Please arrive a few minutes early if it'll be your first class so that you can fill out a bit of paperwork.
